We supply manufacturers of decorative ribbon and gift ribbon with “laid scrims” as exceptional preliminary products on reels.

BAFATEX laid scrims offer you decorative geometric structures. This makes them stand out from the usual satin fabrics in decorative ribbons and gift ribbons in a sales-effective way.

We do not assemble the ribbons. You implement the packaging according to your own wishes within your production process.

Let your imagination flow with creativity to develop your design. Configure your ribbons with desired colors, (also ecologically sustainable) materials, thread spacing, etc. (variables: see below). You can also print colors and patterns on the laid scrims.

What are laid scrims?

In contrast to close-meshed fabrics, BAFA^®– woven fabrics consist of threads that cross diagonally at a more or less large distance.

They are impregnated with an adhesive “binder” during the production process. Once the binder has dried, the contact points are glued. This allows any thread spacing and angle.

Depending on the number of longitudinal and diagonal threads, a narrow- or wide-meshed rhombus structure is created. For decorative ribbons and gift ribbons geometric design is an original alternative.

Depending on the binder material, you can decide during configuration what properties you want your decorative or gift ribbon to have. Stiff or soft, tear resistant, waterproof, eco-degradable, flame retardant, etc.

Flexible, stable, lightweight, individually customizable

Laid Scrims made of the yarn materials cotton, jute, flax, polyester und polyamide are particularly suitable for the contact with food. For premium protection or precious goods we offer yarns made of glass fibre, Kevlar and carbon.

Suitability for Automated Production Processes

BAFATEX supplies laid scrims in coiled widths – on request just-in-time. With their excellent cuttability and punchability they enable a high build quality and a high processing speed. Many manufacturers bond the scrims on the interior surfaces, as the outsides are designed for marketing purposes (smooth, shiny surfaces, with prints).

Within multi-layer products the laid scrims are glued on the inside of the smooth paper layer with contact to the wave carton. Alternatively or additionally they can provide fastening flaps with a higher tearing strength. With their excellent cuttability and punchability they are perfectly applicable for cutting production lines.
